About

Melvin G (Bud) Moore is a retired educator, having taught and worked in various administrative roles in public schools and served as an associate research professor in the former Oregon State System of Higher Education. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Christine.

Bud bought his first SLR camera in the 1970s when he wanted to explore his “creative” side and dabbled in photography over the next 30 years as professional demands would allow. Since retirement in 2010, his devotion and commitment to the new digital era in photography has consumed more of his time. He shoots primarily Nikon equipment and processes the majority of his images in Adobe Lightroom, taking some images into Photoshop for specific development functions. He prints the majority of his images with Epson printers on Signature Worthy paper.

Bud’s primary interests in photography fall into the landscape and nature categories. His wife has been known to suggest, “He never takes pictures with people in them.” Though not entirely true, Bud does profess to attempt to share images that will evoke in viewers the same emotion he felt at the time of capture, fostering the exploration into the very “soul” of an animal through its actions or eyes.
